The Saint Simeon Catholic Cemetery of Aurora, Colorado is a charitable organization serving the Archdiocese of Denver. If you’re looking for an interesting stop on your trip, this is a great place to check out. With beautiful scenery and a quiet atmosphere, a walk during the day could make for a peaceful excursion. As a ministry of the Catholic Church, they host special events throughout the year that serve the local community, so you plan your trip accordingly!
For more than a century, Mount Olivet has conducted a Mass on the first Friday of each month to pray. At 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month, the Mount Olivet Chapel welcomes visitors for this unique Mass. Families may also view the Mass live via a webcast. The individual dates are posted on the website as well as the social media sites, and links for each month’s live stream are posted, too. The Mass will be followed by a scrolling video of all the deceased who have come into the care of the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary during the past month. All are invited to take part in this monthly Mass.
The Saint Simeon Catholic Cemetery hosts events for all ages, too, and encourages those in middle school and high school to come together for a Night at the Cemetery! Taking place on October 5th and 6th from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the evening will include many different activities and snacks! If you’re interested, prepare to take part in an engaging evening tour of the cemetery where you must meet saints from the past. Who wouldn’t want to add this spooktacular event to their calendar in October? After the tour, visitors can enjoy delicious hot chocolate and popcorn. The Mass will be held at the Gallagher outdoor chapel of the Mt. Olivet Chapel unless the weather has other plans.
For the older crowd, the Saint Simeon Catholic Cemetery offers a Brew Night at the Cemetery! Taking place on October 7th from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., everyone 21 and over is welcome to attend, although an RSVP is required. Much like the previous event, a tour will be given for adults to get into a spooky state of mind and meet the saints of the past. Once the tour is done, visitors can enjoy provided beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres! The Mass will be held at the Gallagher outdoor chapel of the Mt. Olivet Chapel (depending on the weather, of course).
